John W. Whiteleather, Jr., a Whitley County native and lifelong resident, has been engaged in the practice of law for over forty years. Having received his undergraduate and law degrees from Indiana University (B.S. 1962 LL.B, 1965), John returned to Columbia City and entered practice with his father, John W. Whiteleather in 1965.

In 1970, John was elected to the first of 8 terms as Whitley County Prosecutor. During his tenure, he served as president of the Indiana Prosecuting Attorney’s Association and chairman of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council. He is frequently called upon to serve as the chairman of medical malpractice review panels and has acted in that capacity on numerous occasions.

Additionally, John maintains a substantial private practice. A certified civil mediator, he has handled a wide range of disputes and controversies for a variety of clients. Professional associations include membership in both the Whitley County and Indiana Bar Associations, as well as the American College of Trial Lawyers. John remains a Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation.
